What are VOCs? Anyone? Anyone? I am sure you have heard that term in some shape or form at some point in your life. Or I am sure you have at least heard of VOCs recently due to all the talk of the new proposal to cut emissions by 45% by 2025! But I am not going […]
Even though I am new to the oil & gas industry, I have been around it my whole life. I was born and raised in Houston so naturally, oil & gas terminology is nothing that is new to me. It is a HUGE part of Houston and it seems every other person you ask about […]
For the past few blogs, I have been drawn towards writing about the Marcellus Shale. I just cannot get enough of this ever increasing natural gas producing shale play! Well, guess what folks? I got the chance to visit Pennsylvania last week to see what all the hype is about and of course visit some of […]
If you have read my blogs before, you know where I stand on my feelings toward the oil and gas industry. Shoot, even if you haven’t read my blogs…I WORK in the industry. It doesn’t take much to figure out how I feel about it. But enough about me! Today, as I sit and think […]
I have done a previous blog before on the fun terms that are used in the oil & gas industry. Some of the terms I knew just by working in the industry but some of them were pretty entertaining and new to me. Writing about these terms was a fun blog! One of those terms happened to […]
In my line of work it is pretty often that some sort of heavy machinery is needed. Well to be honest, I am not really the one using these big hunks of machinery…I just make sure we have them available. You see…we have some pretty big pieces of equipment and some small. But unless you are Superman, […]
For those of you who don’t know, our office is located in a small town outside of Houston. So you can imagine that when anything out of the ordinary happens around here, the whole town knows about it. Something popped up recently that is pretty hard to miss…a drilling rig! I have been driving past it […]
This week our Guest Blogger is Jacob Jennings, the Business Development Manager at Kimray, Inc. ! Let’s talk about traffic for a minute. In any city, cars, trucks, and buses ebb and flow, stop and start, honk and purr. City governments must use several tools to control the flow of traffic through their street—primarily driving lanes, traffic lights, […]
For this week’s blog, I thought I would start off addressing the most talked about topic that seems to be buzzing around lately…GAS PRICES! As a consumer, how awesome has the cheap gas prices been?! Just yesterday, I filled up my entire tank in my car for only $23. I couldn’t help but smile as […]
Sadly the oil and gas industry took another kick while down this week. The Obama Administration has decided to not open up Atlantic Ocean waters to off shore drilling in 2017. I read a lot of different things, some dating back to 2005. Where offshore drilling money goes and how it gets there is very convoluted. […]
Compressed Natural Gas…have you heard of it? You may have seen it while driving past a gas station that supplied it. We have written blogs before about converting cars to natural gas. This blog, in particular, does a great job explaining what CNG is and how it ties into natural gas cars. In a short definition, CNG is […]
A plunger lift is an artificial list method of deliquifying a natural gas well. A plunger is used to remove contaminants from productive natural gas wells, such as water, sand, oil, and wax. The basics of the plunger is to open and close the well shutoff valve at the optimum times, to bring up the plunger and […]
I’m not going to lie to you and say that I haven’t enjoyed the low gas prices. It has also been nice filling up my Husband’s lifted up Ford F150 for under 50 bucks. However, knowing how many friends are without jobs because of the downturn in oil and gas makes my money savings bitter […]
Have you ever sat in a meeting with a field foreman, production engineers, chemical engineers, and landmen? Have you ever been lost with all the jargon and verbiage thrown around in the room or even out in the field? I HAVE! After over two years in the industry, I still come across new terms or slang terms […]
I usually like to choose my weekly blog topics stemmed from something I have recently been thinking about or an event that is happening. Hence, the blog I wrote last week was appropriately timed about the Thanksgiving Parade. It is too early for my Christmas blog so I won’t jump on the early Christmas bandwagon just […]
Whenever you are listening or reading about oil production, oil supply, or oil prices you will often notice OPEC being part of the story. I’m pretty sure most people know what OPEC is and I bet there is an equal number of people who wonder what OPEC is all about. I know very little […]
If you have kept up with our blogs, you have probably picked up on the point that oil and natural gas are essential resources for not only America but for the world. There are countless uses for both oil and gas. Some of which you may find surprising. So why in some areas, is natural […]
There seem to be meetings or summits of global leaders quite often. Well, there was another one recently. The United Nations Climate Change Conference was very recently held in Le Bourget, Paris. It ran from November 30 to December 12th. Obviously Mother Earth and how to make her last longer was the main topic of discussion. All the news […]
You hear about the oil and gas industry everywhere. Even more so in Houston, TX. Heck…just in Texas in general! With the industry buzzing all around us, it is hard to know what information is true, what information is false, and what information is exaggerated. So I have compiled some common myths that I know […]
When I heard a quick blurb on new radio stating that natural gas companies were going to have to report and document toxic emissions, I really listened up. I got to thinking and asked myself some questions. First off where will these reports be documented? Who would have access to them? The last thing that […]
