If you answered yes to the title of my blog this week, gold star for you! I’m just a little over a year in the oil and gas industry. I had no idea what PADD stood for. With all the current hoopla tied to the possible abolishment of the 40-year-old oil export ban, I stumbled onto […]
I am sad to say that I have never ridden on a train. I don’t count the train ride at Herman Park or the Light Rail through the Texas Medical Center as a true train ride either. Here in SE Texas, railways and all public transportation in general is just not a mode of transportation used very often. We are car-loving […]
There are multiple countries that produce oil and gas. Some more than others and some not at all. Who are the ones that produce the most? Has it changed throughout the years? This year, it is no secret that things have changed due to the slump. With wells being shut in, the numbers have changed. […]
I’ve written a few blogs talking out the oil export ban here in the united states. 1975 Ban on Oil Exports in the US So Companies CAN Export Oil…Well Sort Of Senators are working Together to get the 1975 Oil Ban Lifted This will actually be my fourth blog mentioning it. Why to I keep coming […]
With the oil and gas industry taking a hit right now you have not heard too much complaining from fracking haters. Production has slowed so there are less wells being fracked, so I guess that means less complaining. Speaking of complaining. An interesting document was released this week. An independent group of subject matter experts from academia, […]
Climate Change, Global Warming, whatever catch phrase you prefer to use, they are not going away. The planet is changing, that, no one can deny. Why it is changing and what can be done to stop it, if anything, is what is constantly being debated. The current administration rolled out the Clean Power Plan in […]
When I am going through the proposal process with a client, I am trying to get as much well information as possible. This ensures that the data I pass onto the engineers I work with is as detailed as possible. The more details, the more accurate our proposal sent to the client will be. One […]
I have written about the 1975 Oil Export Ban two times now. Why do I keep going back to it? Personally, I think that is something that needs to stay on people’s minds. By allowing the U.S. to export any oil and gas products, will boost our economy and take power away from OPEC. Two very […]
I want to go back to basics this week. I write a lot about regulations, pipelines, and treating gas after the well head. But an ongoing question and concern that I find a lot of people have, is hydraulic fracturing also known as fracking. So I want to simply discuss in this blog exactly what […]
The naysayers have been quiet this week. The price of a barrel of oil has grown almost $15.00 a barrel in just one month. GREAT NEWS for my state’s economy and for the industry that supports my growing family. However, it’s not all peaches and cream. There are still lots of marginal sized companies barely hanging on. […]
Who doesn’t like science experiments? I remember getting so excited about lab days back in grade school. Making ice cream, creating fires, making foam and more! It was always a nice break from schoolwork, too. So I decided to kick it old school and relive a lab day! Before I jump into my science experiment, […]
I love the phrase ‘fiscal responsibility’. I threw that phrase around all the time at my previous job. I worked for an amazing non-profit organization here in Houston, so it was a daily focus. Fiscal responsibility is something that anyone or any company can practice. With the current oil and gas market, I know it […]
I’m about to brag about how wonderful Texas is again in this week’s blog, be warned. So once again my amazing home state is getting a leg up in the energy business. The Port of Brownsville, which is the only deep water port located in the U.S. / Mexico boarder, is slated to get a new […]
Maybe it is just because I am in the industry but talk of crude oil prices are the talk of the town. Even if you have nothing to do with the industry, I am sure you have heard about it one way or another. Whether you heard about layoffs or low gas prices, the low […]
What do you think of when you hear the phrase, refrigeration plant? There is no right or wrong answer. I guess the answer really depends on what industry is in the context. Refrigeration plants come in all different shapes and sizes. There are some small enough to fit in a box of wine to ones sized […]
Last week my fellow blogger, Amy, and I wrote on utilizing stranded gas and well gas for running well site equipment such as generators and how Croft’s FCS, JTS, and CIS can help clean that gas so it won’t tear up the equipment. Well since we are on a roll, I want to continue the topic of using well gas but instead, using […]
Everyone that is in the oil and gas industry has been paying attention to the prices of crude, diesel, natural gas and gas at the pump. Heck anyone who drives has been paying attention. With the lower prices all the way around, those in the energy business have been finding a way to be as […]
What is the first thing you think about when you hear the words, “stranded gas?” Is it a very sad image of a lonely gas can stuck on an island with no one or no cars around to utilize it? Although that may be one kind of stranded gas, it is not the kind we […]
And so it begins. On March 20th the Obama administration released the first (of many I expect) major federal regulations on fracking. This ruling has 90 days before it goes into effect. So what is it all about? The regulations come from the Department of Interior and are the first new federal rule in 30 years. […]
For the past few blogs, I have been drawn towards writing about the Marcellus Shale. I just cannot get enough of this ever increasing natural gas producing shale play! Well, guess what folks? I got the chance to visit Pennsylvania last week to see what all the hype is about and of course visit some of […]
